Weather Closure

Allie Masten — Thu, 22 Jan 2026 12:34:31 +0000

Mt. Abram will be CLOSED Saturday January 24th 2026

We’ve got a blast of arctic air headed our way, and it’s bringing dangerously cold wind chills with it. In the interest of safety for our guests, staff, and mountain infrastructure, we’ve made the decision to close the mountain on Saturday, January 24. Operations will resume on Sunday, January 25 with a delayed opening at 10 am.

Loose Boots Lounge will still be open for the day starting at 3pm and we’ll have The Dapper Gents Band joining us with great tunes.

If you have a reservation for Saturday, our team will be reaching out directly. We’ll be happy to reschedule your visit for another day.

Thanks for your understanding—and for braving winter right alongside us. Warmer turns are on the horizon!

Mountain Ops Blog 8/7

Allie Masten — Wed, 07 Aug 2024 17:29:28 +0000

August 7th

Shanta & Nate joined several Maine ski areas at Sunday River for an Adaptive Equipment and Lift Evacuation Workshop in order to share collective knowledge. This workshop was a great opportunity for everyone to gain hands-on experience with adaptive equipment, both on and off the lift. They explored the existing evacuation systems of equipment and how it interfaces with patrol evacuation systems. Then they ran some full evacs of the equipment in a suspended scenario.

Brian got a pretty new baby! This summer, Mt Abram invested in a new tractor and mowing deck This combo allows Brian to mow a large portion of our trails in the summer, helping keep them from being overgrown and taken over by small bushes, etc. This practice of mowing also allows up to make snow more efficiently and open trails sooner, as less snow is required for coverage.
