Bike School – 2021 Programs

Youth Programs:

Rental Bike Updates
Due to global demand and shipping delays, we do not have our rental fleet on site yet. We will rent bikes as they arrive, however, we do not anticipate delivery until mid June. If you need to rent a bike in the meantime, we highly recommend you talk to our friends at Barker Mountain Bikes 207-824-0100.

This one day a week, 8-week program will provide young riders with a progression of skills to take their riding to the next level.  Kids will spend the day in groups of riders of similar skill level.  Each group will develop riding skills, learn basic bike mechanics as well as safety awareness and trail etiquette.

This is a full day camp that runs from 9-4 (drop off between 8:30-9, pick up between 4:00-4:30).

$499 for the first child.  $450 for additional children.

Ages 6-14

 

Camp price does NOT include day ticket or season pass – please purchase those separately.


Half Day Kids Camp

This one day a week, 8-week program will provide young riders with a progression of skills to take their riding to the next level.  Kids will spend the session in a group of riders of similar skill level.  Each group will develop riding skills, learn basic bike mechanics and develop safety awareness and trail etiquette.  The half day option is perfect for newer or young riders.

Ages 5-14

This is a half day camp – each session is 3 1/2 hours.

AM session is 9:00-12:30

PM Session is 1:15-4:45

$349 for the first child.  $325 for each additional child.

Camp price does NOT include day ticket or season pass – please purchase those separately.


Build it, Ride it Camp (BIRIC) 

This 4-day Day Camp is designed to give kids aged 10-15 a chance to build their own stretch of trail at the Bike Park.  Our experienced Coaches and Trail Builders partner for this camp to introduce campers to the tools and techniques of safe, fun trail design.  Participants will learn the basics of trail building, including:

Trail layout, terrain choice and water management

Machine vs Hand construction techniques

Tool of construction, including safety and use

Building features including berms, rollers, jumps and rock gardens

And the best part, testing what we build!

Each daily session runs from 9:00-4:00

$499 for the first child.  $450 for additional children.

 

This camp is offered 3 times for the summer of 2021:

July 12-15

August 23-26

 

This registration does not include daily/session Lift Tickets or Season Pass.  These need to be purchased separately.  Uphill Tickets are appropriate for participants for the majority of this camp.


Youth Downhill Primer Package

If your child can ride a bike, we can get them mountain biking at the Mt. Abram Bike Park.  This two-hour group session with one of our experienced Kids Coaches will cover the basics of bike operation, braking and body position.  The lesson starts on learning terrain and includes guided runs on beginner friendly terrain.  This is a great way to take the fear out of the equation – for you OR your child!

Bikes available in 20″, 24″ and 26″ wheel sizes

Price $69

The package includes the Lift Ticket, Standard Youth Bike Rental and Lesson.  That over $100 value!

Ages 5-12 (riders need to be under 4’11” – if over, please use the Adult Downhill Primer Package to assure the proper bike fit)


The Youth Half-Day lesson is a 3.5 hour group session that provides kids with the opportunity to develop core skills.  The lesson will utilize appropriate terrain for the skill level and session goals.  Groups will be divided based on skill level and/or age.

Lessons are scheduled daily:

Wednesdays: 1:15-4:45

Thursdays – Sunday: 9:00-12:30 OR 1:15-4:45

 

Minimum age is 6

$75

Lift tickets and rentals are NOT included.  Please book these separately.


Private and Semi Private Instruction 

Want to customize your Bike School experience?  We are able to provide lessons to meet your individual needs.  We can work at any level, from a nervous beginner to an expert rider looking to master features.

Minimum age 5.  All riders must already know how to ride a bike.

 

Private sessions start at $90 for one person.  90 minute minimum

Rate: $60/hour for one person, $40/person per hour up to 5 people.

Lift tickets and rentals are NOT included.  Please book these separately.

Family Lessons

Keep it all in the family in this 90 minute private lesson.  This is a great chance to experience something together that can last a lifetime. Our coaches will work with each member of the family to learn or fine-tune technique.  Up to 5 members of the same immediate family can participate – at least one person must be a parent or grandparent.  The session can be catered to the needs of the family, from a beginner experience to exploring the trails all over the mountain.

Ages 5 and up

$145 for 2-3 family members; $200 for 4-5 family members.

Lift tickets and rentals are NOT included.  Please book these separately.


Adult Programs:

Adult Downhill Primer Package

Women’s Series

Learn and share with other women.  Back by popular demand, these clinics will be offered on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoon on a variety of topics.  Each session is designed to introduce riders to these skills at any level – from beginners to more advanced rider.

 

Ages 12+

$45 per person

 

Topics:

  • Downhill Primer – Nervous about lift serviced mountain biking?  We’ll cover all the skills needed to have safe fun at Mt. Abram.  This 2 hour session will review body position, basic braking, and cornering.  Instructors will take you on guided run(s) on some of mountains easier terrain.
  • Intro to Enduro – Have you been interested in enduro bike racing but don’t know where to start?  This clinic will cover the basics and general run through of enduro racing without all the pressure of a real race.  This is a step towards participating in the new Wednesday night enduro series.
  • Tackling Tech Trails – No need to be intimidated by those features in the trail. We’ll utilize our Skills Park and and other technical trails, like Pinball Wizard, to master features like drops, rock gardens, bridges and tight terrain.
  • Jumping 101 – Build your confidence with your wheels off the ground in this jumping clinic.  The mountain has many opportunities to find air, and experienced coaching to fine-tune your technique, from the basic fundamentals to where to find air at the park.
  • Mastering the Climb – While downhill riding utilizes one set of skills, in this clinic we will “shift gears” to get back to the top of the mountain. We will work on the basics of pacing, shifting and pedaling through turns to ascend trails Emu’s Climb.

Next Level Advanced Series

This series is designed for to take your riding to the next level.  If you are comfortable on your bike, but are looking to master some new skills, these sessions are for you.  Each session will cover the fundamentals needed for the advanced skill and personalized instruction in technique.  Our coaches know the best places on the mountain to build these skills and will make sure you leave with a new level of comfort.

 

Ages 15+

$50 per person

 

Topics:

  • Cornering: Riders will explore skills used when cornering and how to master taking corners at speed.
  • Tech: Riders will work on technical features including drops, rock gardens and navigating tight terrain.  This clinic will help you master features on Pinball Wizard and Yellowjacket
  • Jumping: This session will focus on the FUNdamentals of jumping.  We’ll use appropriate terrain to build the skills so you can hit sick jumps throughout the Bike Park.
  • Climbing: Riders will work on pacing, shifting and pedaling through corners while climbing to make it easier to feel the burn.  You can skip the lift line and beat your friends to the top!
  • Intro to Enduro: Riders will get the crash course on how to race enduro, involving both climbing and downhill racing.  This clinic is a great introduction to getting involved in our new Wednesday night enduro race series.
