  • Mark Thibodeau - Director
    Mark has been the Leavitt coach for 12 years, 4 State Championships, and coach of the year. USSA level 1 coach and USSA official. Mark has been the Race Director at Mt. Abram for the last 5 years.

  • Tim Lavallee
    Coach LaVallee has spent a lifetime coaching ski racers from the grass roots level to the United States Ski Team. His successful coaching experiences include stints with the United States Ski Team, the University of Colorado at Boulder, Bates College, and as director of the Gould Academy Sunday River (GSR) Competition Programs.

  • Tom Reynolds
    Coach's competitive alpine athletes have had success at all levels--high school, collegiate, and USSA competitions. He was twice an associate coach for the U.S. Ski Team and served two terms as president of United States Ski Coaches Association. He has coached at summer race camps in the United States, Canada, and Europe. In 1997, he created the University of Maine at Farmington's Ski Industries Program and has placed many career alpine coaches in the field.

  • Tim Milligan
    Tim has coached the race program for 2 years up to last year. Tim has completed his Level 100 USSA Coaching certification last year and has been an active supporter of Mt. Abram since 2001.

  • Halie Gilman
    Halie has been an avid skier starting at Mt. Abram at the age of 3. She has been a coach for the Mt. Abram ski school for the last 3 years earning the most valuable player award. Halie started racing competitive in the 6th grade on the Oxford Hills Ski Team and has been one of their top skiers for the last 4 years. She loves to share her love of the sport and her competitive nature in racing.

  • Matt Hancock
    While participating in a climate controlled environment, Matt became one of Maine's all-time hard-court standouts captaining a Lake Region HS Team to the 1985 Class B Basketball State Championship and later earning Three All-American Selections at Colby College including the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year Award in 1990. Matt led the nation in scoring in 1988 with over 31 points per game and graduated Colby as Maine's all-time Collegiate Scoring Champion. Matt was also a Football and Baseball All-Star selection in High School and played Baseball at Colby. Matt has since coached over 300 recreation, travel league, AAU, and High School basketball games, is the Director of the Lake Region Youth Basketball League and is the Chairperson for the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches Miss Maine Award.

  • Joe Reis
    Coach Joe Reis is a veteran coach and ski teacher. He returns to Mt. Abram after a 10 year hiatus. His resume includes ten years with the Vail/Beaver Creek Ski Schools as well as four years at Keystone Resort where he served as ski school technical director and race director. Joe holds certifications from both PSIA and the United States Ski Coaches Association, having completed the National Coaches School in 1983. For over twenty years, Joe has coached during the summer at Mt. Hood Summer Ski Camps. He spent 8 years as a development coach for the Gould Academy Sunday River Alpine Competition Programs and the past two years he has coached with the Shawnee Peak Race Team. Joe is also a certified soccer coach having coached for Falmouth, ME youth and travel soccer leagues. He lives in Bethel with his wife Anne, the Telstar High School Alpine Coach and his son Taylor, a JII skier at Gould Academy.
