Mt Abram is honored to host the 1st annual WinterKids Downhill Derby this Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10.

Grab your friends, grab your skis and get ready for Maine’s “coolest” winter challenge and fundraiser.

Downhill Derby Mission

Downhill Derby aims to raise funds for WinterKids’ programs, so that more Maine children can develop healthy lifelong habits through fun, outdoor winter activity!

Saturday, March 9th
Ongoing activities: Skiing & Boarding, Raffle Prizes, Mechanical Bull, Beer Garden
10am-11am Registration

11:30am Welcome

12:00pm Ski Challenge Begins

1pm-4pm Live Band (Denny Breau)

4pm-7pm Live Band (Vinyl Tap)

5pm-8pm Photo Booth (it holds 15 people and is filled with fun props!)

Wild West Festival

2013-14 Passes on Sale, Ski Free Rest of This Season

We have released next season’s pass prices. Prices begin at $98 for midweek/non-holiday, $350 for Junior and Senior, $490 for Adult and $1,699 for a Family Pass.

As a bonus to the already low prices, those who buy a pass for next season will be able to ski the rest of this season for free.

Conditions permitting, Mt. Abram will be open through Easter. The area has some exciting events coming up including this Saturday’s Wild West Festival, the Winter Kids 24-Hour Downhill Derby, and a St. Patty’s Big Air contest.

Saturday, February 16-Live Music with Denny Breau in the Loose Boots Lounge, from 4 to 7 pm.

Sunday, February 17-Torchlight Parade and Family Spaghetti Dinner, starting at 6 pm.

Tuesday, February 19-MPA Class A High School State Championships-GS.

Wednesday, Febraury 20-MPA Class A High School State Championships-GS. Kids Rules. $10 off lift tickets and lesson, scavenger hunt and ice cream bar in the Main Lodge.

Thursday, February 21-2 for 1 Lift Tickets. $5 Portland Pie night.

Friday, February 22-$75 Car Load Fridays. Fine Dining Friday, menu to be announced.

Saturday, February 23-Mt Abram Ski Club Auction, starting at 5 pm.

Mt. Abram Installs Two Electric Vehicle Stations

Becomes Second North America Ski Area to have E/V Station

Continuing Mt. Abram’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the ski area has installed two E/V charging stations. The two 220-volt charging centers are located close to the main lodge, rewarding guests who arrive in electric and hybrid cars.

“If more desirable destinations assumed a leadership role of protecting the planet, no one would ever need to drive a fossil fuel vehicle,” says Matt Hancock, Mt. Abram’s owner and operator.

Along with Stevens Pass in Washington, Mt. Abram becomes just the second ski area to install an E/V charging station.

Over the last few days, we have received 10-16 inches of new snow. We are now 100% open with great coverage and excellent ski conditions. We will be open through the New Year and hope to see you on the slopes.

Mt Abram Kicks Off Our 52nd Season

Please join us for opening day, Thursday, December 20, 2012 as we begin our 52nd season at Mt Abram.

We will open with top to bottom skiing on Sweeper and Boris, for advanced skiers. More terrain for all abilities is expected to be open over the weekend.

Lift tickets for Thursday’s opener will be just $15.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to share the sport you love with someone else! January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard month as well as the Bring a Friend Challenge.

Mt Abram is very please to be able to support the National Ski Areas Associations in this campaign throughout the 2012-2013. Our goal is to introduce more people to the sport of skiing and riding that any other ski area in the state. We will be offering discounted Learn to Ski/Snowboard packages throughout the season.
